To be considered for promotion, teachers must meet the following requirements:

Types of Promotions

At the Kaduna State Teachers’ Service Board, we recognize that professional growth takes different forms. Our promotion system is designed to acknowledge various paths to excellence in education through three distinct promotion channels:

Regular Promotion

Based on years of service, qualifications, and performance evaluations.

Special Promotion

Recognizes exceptional performance, innovation in teaching, or significant contributions to education in Kaduna State.

Conversion

For teachers who have acquired additional relevant academic qualifications while in service.

Application Process

  1. Online Application: Complete the promotion application form through the KSTSB portal
  2. Documentation: Upload all required documents including:
    • Current appointment letter
    • Academic credentials
    • Professional development certificates
    • Performance evaluation reports
    • School recommendation letter
  3. Verification: Attend document verification at designated centers
  4. Assessment: Complete required examinations and interviews
  5. Notification: Receive promotion status through official channels

After Promotion

Newly promoted teachers will:

  1. Receive an official promotion letter
  2. Be placed at appropriate salary grade level
  3. Potentially receive new responsibilities aligned with their higher rank
  4. Be expected to mentor junior colleagues
  5. Participate in leadership development programs

Promotion Appeals

Teachers who believe their promotion application was unfairly assessed may submit an appeal within 30 days of result publication. The Appeals Committee reviews all cases and provides responses within 60 days.
